May
Hello 4th grade Families!
I can officially say that TODAY we have entered the last month of school. There are only 23 days left (including weekends) and there is still a lot to do! A new story notes packet was sent home yesterday. This will be due the last Monday of school (May 21st.) It will be one of the last grades of the school year, so make sure you finish strong!
Tomorrow we have a couple of events going on. The first (and most exciting!) is our first field trip of the year. The reason we waited so long for our field trips is because we wanted to make sure to get all of our AIMS practice in before the fun started. Tomorrow we will be going to see the movie Chimpanzee at Harkins! Students may bring money for snacks and drinks but that is not a requirement. However, students MUST bring a sack lunch, as the cafeteria will be closed by the time we get back. After we get back and eat lunch it will be time to go to the staff vs. students volleyball game! I am very excited about this (as I will be playing, ha ha) Go staff!
Our next field trip details will be coming soon. Please check Twitter for more frequent updates. Also, students still need to be practicing math facts and reading every night. If you have any questions or need to schedule a conference with me, please call the school or send me an e-mail! Happy last month of school, everyone!

April
Hello 4th graders and Family!
It is officially April, that means... ONLY 2 MONTHS OF SCHOOL LEFT! April also means that it is AIMS testing month. There are only 14 days left until we take the test. Testing starts on April 16th and goes all week. Please come prepared to school. Get a lot of sleep and eat breakfast before coming to school every day. We are busy studying and gaining the most knowledge that we can before AIMS starts. I am very proud of all of you, keep up the hard work!
After AIMS testing week we will be going on a few field trips. Details will be coming out soon!
Today I will be passing out April story notes to the students. Students are to read 20 minutes every night and write a summary or what they read. I will be collecting these (along with the April book report) on April 30th.
Have a great month! As always, please follow our classroom twitter account (updated nightly) here:

March
Hello!
I can't believe it is finally March. We only have 3 months of school left! I hope you are still motivated in your studies, and working harder than ever! We have the AIMS test coming up in April. To prepare, I would like you to continue to read every night (at least 20 minutes!) and study your math facts.
Spring Break is coming up this month (March 19-23). I know that you are all very excited to take a rest from school, however, it is important to keep your brain moving EVERY DAY! You can do this by doing puzzles, reading a book or magazine, or even playing math games!
We are working hard to get ready for the AIMS test. We have been working very hard in our Buckle Down books and I am proud of each and every one of you. This week we are discussing prefix and suffix in reading. Remember, prefix is a word part that goes at the beginning or a root word and suffix is a word part that goes at the end of a root word. Why not try and make up some of these and quiz your parents? You'd be surprised at how much you actually remember from our lesson!
Have a great month! As always, please check our classroom Twitter page. I update this page nightly and you can check it for daily homework as well as events happening around our school. Just copy and paste this URL into your web browser.

February
Hello Everyone!
Happy February! I am very excited to say that we are doing an EXCELLENT job here in room 16. The students are focused, energized, and eager to still be learning! With AIMS right around the corner, this is the type of energy we need. I hope that all students (and parents!) keep this up through the end of AIMS testing week. AIMS will be the week of April 16-20. Please make sure to keep reading every night and studying math to keep in preparation for the test. I am so proud of all of you! Way to go.
Valentine's day is right around the corner, February 14th. I will be sending home some Valentine's Day activities in the next two weeks to help keep kids studying math, reading, and science at home. Please be in the look out for these extra activities!
We have been practicing multiplication a lot this year. In order to keep our facts fresh in our minds, it is VERY important to keep studying every single day. We are doing "ticket out the door" multiplication problems every time we leave the classroom. I hope that the more you are studying at home, the faster you can get these problems done!
As always! Please follow our classroom Twitter account. I update daily about homework, and often times update about happenings around school. You do NOT need a Twitter account to see these updates! Simply type this URL into your web browser, and save it into your favorite places!
